Snap Launches A.I. Chatbot Using OpenAI’s GPT Technology

Snap Inc., the parent company of the popular social media app Snapchat, has recently launched a new feature that promises to enhance user experience and engagement. The feature is an A.I. chatbot that utilizes OpenAI’s GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) technology to provide users with personalized and natural language conversations. With this chatbot, Snap hopes to offer a new way for users to interact with the app and to keep them engaged for longer periods.

Snap has unveiled My A.I., an OpenAI-powered chatbot, on its subscription-based platform Snapchat+. Initially presented in June 2020, this $3.99 monthly service provides users access to features like the chatbot.

Snap (a company) deploys an innovative feature called ‘Chatbot’ by relying on OpenAI ChatGPT technology. According to The Verge, this A.I. Chatbot can advise on activities such as deciding gifts, weekly plans, or cooking recipes – with the flexibility to customize its name and chat background.

Snap issued a caution in a press release regarding its My A.I. chatbot, noting that it is “prone to trickery and can be ‘made’ to say just about anything.” This warning adds to previous incidents involving OpenAI-based bots like Bing.

During Snap Inc’s fourth-quarter earnings call, CEO Evan Spiegel spoke on the capabilities of A.I. technology to transform several aspects. Higher-ups echoed this sentiment at Nvidia and Meta, who indicated that this emerging technology could spur many changes in their fields.

In the same vein, when Spiegel spoke to The Verge in an interview, he sounded quite optimistic., he sounded quite optimistic., he sounded quite optimistic.

Spiegel says:

“The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day.”

Snap recently unveiled its new A.I. chatbot product, following up on the heels of Microsoft and Google, who have also released AI-backed products. Most notably, Google is responsible for developing Bard, an internal conversational A.I. product.

The recent launch of Snap’s A.I. chatbot, powered by OpenAI’s GPT technology, represents a significant milestone in the development of conversational A.I. With the ability to engage in natural language conversations with users, the chatbot has the potential to transform the way we interact with technology, from providing customer support to facilitating personalized shopping experiences.

Moreover, integrating GPT technology into the chatbot allows for creating more human-like responses, enhancing the user experience and making the interaction feel more organic. As the technology evolves, we can expect to see even more sophisticated chatbots that can understand and respond to complex user queries in  real-time.
