Microsoft has been at the forefront of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution, and its latest move is to bring its AI-powered chatbot to the Bing app on both iPhone and Android devices. The chatbot, named Xiaoice, has been a popular feature in China for several years, and now it is being introduced to users worldwide.
Wednesday witnessed the preview version of Microsoft’s new Bing and Edge apps for Android and iOS. They come loaded with voice search capabilities and progression toward AI chatbot availability.
Users of the Bing mobile app can tap the Bing icon to initiate a chat session, asking questions using text and voice. As the release highlights, this opportunity enables a comprehensive range of questions.
Users of Edge mobile can stay up to date on current happenings in Bing as new updates will be available directly on the homepage. Microsoft said these updates might be delivered as bullet points, brief descriptions, or standard text annotations.
Microsoft recently unveiled Bing for Skype, which is a new tool driven by AI. Within group chats, this can be employed to help answer questions from multiple people at once. Just add the AI into the group setting, providing answers for everyone contributing to the conversation.
People can take assistance from Bing on topics such as travel, weather, or the latest award shows. The app’s answers can be bullet points, brief answers, and text format – similar to what one receives on Bing mobile app.
Microsoft, at their headquarters in Redmond, had an event on Feb. 7 which they used to announce AI-powered modifications to Bing search and their Edge browser. The alterations being made worldwide were revealed through worldwide previews.
Initially, this update was released on the desktop in an encounter restricted to a specific trial period, meaning that multiple attempts or a limited number of searches had to be conducted during that time.
Satya Nadella, CEO of the company, has declared that in his nine-year tenure, artificial intelligence-powered search has been the most remarkable development.
Following Microsoft’s event, Satya Nadella spoke with CNBC’s Jon Fortt. The CEO held an interview where he expressed his views regarding the occasion.
Satya Nadella says:
“I have not seen something like this since I would say 2007-2008, when the cloud was just first coming out.”
Integrating Xiaoice, Microsoft’s conversational AI chatbot, into the Bing app on iPhone and Android devices marks a significant step forward for the company in its efforts to bring AI-powered personalization and interactivity to the search experience.
By leveraging natural language processing and machine learning, Xiaoice can provide users with more personalized and relevant search results and engage in meaningful conversations to answer queries and provide recommendations.
