Meta Say It Is Experimenting With AI-powered Chat On WhatsApp And Messenger

Meta is testing AI-powered tools for its products, diving into the generative AI wave that no company is immune to. As shared by Mark Zuckerberg, this integration seeks to bring generative AI into services and platforms currently used by billions.

Mark Zuckerberg says:

“A new top-level product group”

He stated that, initially, the team would focus on developing creative tools; in the long run, however, they hope to bring users more “futuristic” experiences. Before attaining progress in this direction, though, lots of preparatory tasks must be performed.

Mark Zuckerberg went on to say:

“AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways.”

By introducing AI tools for messaging services like WhatsApp and Messenger, Meta plans to start with text-based bots – think ChatGPT. These could be used for conversational entertainment or tap into commercial use for sales opportunities, customer support, and so forth.

At Meta, Instagram is where they are delving into innovative areas such as developing AI-aided filters, exploring various ad formats, and experimenting with videos to offer unique multi-modal experiences.

Previous Apple executive Ahmad Al-Dahle has been chosen to lead a new project for the company, which will involve reporting to Chief Product Officer Chris Cox. According to Axios, this project aims to keep Facebook ahead of its competition.

The tech found conventional fame only with OpenAI’s ChatGPT bot. However, captivating AI tools have been around for a while. Microsoft’s Bing search and Edge browsers have already wholly advanced, incorporating this balmy Artificial Intelligence expertise.

With the rise of AI-powered chat products in recent months, Google has also jumped on board and launched its offering named Bard. Similar integrations by search engines like, Neeva and a custom-built Snapchat chatbot for paid subscribers this month suggest rivalry.

Given Zuckerberg’s weak returns on the metaverse bet, Meta is acting quickly to diversify and generate more earnings with its AI initiatives. Last week they unveiled their Meta Verified subscription, though the paid membership program has yet to prove comparatively successful with other similar models.
