D-ID’s Web App Gives OpenAI’s ChatGPT a Face And Voice

D-ID has now released the beta version of a web app for individuals to interact with photorealistic AI. This technology allows them to communicate via a virtual meeting and is powered by Deep Nostalgia, the startup’s pioneering innovation.

Chat. D-ID, using a combination of D-ID’s text-to-video streaming technology and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, provides web users with an easy way to interact with artificial intelligence (AI). With the app, conversing with AI has been made much simpler.

Gil Perry, the CEO, and co-founder of the startup stated to TechCrunch that they hope to expand the customer base with ChatGPT being given a voice and face — making AI communication accessible for people who cannot read or write.

The company that developed ChatGPT has created a web app to make AI more accessible to the elderly. This app grants easy access to the technology, making it simpler for senior citizens to utilize Artificial Intelligence.

Perry says:

“The app is an easier way to use the power of AI and converse with ChatGPT.”

“We are wired to communicate with faces, we understand the situation better when we do. We feel more comfortable and we can observe complex information better when we’re in what feels like a real scenario. Video is more effective than text, so the app increases the power of large language models by adding a face.”

Perry discloses that users will soon be free to select an avatar from diverse provided choices or upload whatever image they opt for. It should be noted that one won’t be able to upload images of celebrities or public figures.

In a few weeks, Perry believes generations – such as Dumbledore from Harry Potter – talking to Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become possible with the launch of a web app. He believes that having an appropriate face when conversing with AI is essential.

If an elementary school student desires to understand quantum physics, they can modify the application’s face to Albert Einstein. This way, they can study further and become well-informed on this subject.

Chat. D-ID can be used without cost by people. However, if the startup struggles to manage demand at certain stages, charges may be imposed – prepared for this, though the aim is to make it available without nominal fees.

D-ID is aware that their new web app may be perceived as a bit unsettling; however, Perry maintains the opinion that AI will become mainstream in the long run, and by providing AI with a ‘human’ face, individuals will be more inclined to interact with it in their everyday lives.

Microsoft drew criticism when it incorporated ChatGPT capabilities into Bing this previous month. To avoid a similar plight, D-ID believes its utilization of OpenAI’s refined ChatGPT API and implementation of safeguards will successfully avoid the same fate.

D-ID has taken measures to ensure its web app cannot be used to upload any pornographic or violent images; however, D-ID does not assume any accountability for the answers provided by Alice.

When you open the web app on a desktop or mobile device, you are met by Alice, the friendly avatar. She is ready to answer any question; type it out or click the microphone icon to say it aloud.

Alice can be an ideal partner for simulating a job interview or hosting a family trivia, although the web app is still imperfect.

With the launch of its consumer app, D-ID unveiled a chat API aimed at empowering enterprises to enhance their branding and customer experience a week prior.

D-ID’s new API offers brands an excellent opportunity for customers to interact with them more personalized and engagingly via text chatbots. These bots permit customers to interact with a company conversationally.

D-ID’s new web app is a game-changer for ChatGPT, giving it a face and voice that enhances its user experience. D-ID has demonstrated the potential for creating more human-like and engaging AI models by combining different AI technologies. As AI continues to evolve, we can expect to see more innovations like this that push the boundaries of what is possible with AI. Ultimately, this will lead to more user-friendly AI models that benefit society.
