The “Stronger Together: Artificial Intelligence for the Common Good” event organized by the British Council of Greece provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, knowledge, and best practices on using AI to improve society.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnerships between various sectors, including academia, industry, government, and civil society, to ensure that AI is developed and used responsibly and ethically.
Our Stronger Together initiative has an AI component devoted to helping young leaders acquire the specialized know-how necessary for constructing AI-based answers to social and environmental issues.
Therefore, the British Council and Microsoft Hellas have decided to work together and create a hackathon where young people can demonstrate how artificial intelligence can be used for positive outcomes.
Young people have a significant role to play in the future of AI and its potential for solving large-scale issues currently affecting the world. Their involvement is essential in determining whether AI will be employed effectively or if it will be used to create more problems.
Young people should be encouraged to engage in a field of work that will challenge them to think critically, persuade others and contribute to the greater good. We must focus our youth leadership activities on developing opportunities for young people to become agents of positive change by participating in social action initiatives.
Focus Group
Online focus groups are designed to give youth a platform to discuss the advantages of Artificial Intelligence for society and shape their ideas into policy recommendations. These proposals will be discussed in a final policy dialogue involving young people and representatives from academia, businesses, and government.
Hackathon
Come to our hackathon and collaborate with other young people who know AI and social innovation. Working together, you can develop new ideas that can address current social requirements and the difficulties brought about by the global climate crisis.
The hackathon, which occurred on Friday 9, Saturday 10, and Sunday 11 December 2022 at Serafio City of Athens, will have the triumphant team given a study visit to an appropriate AI project/establishment in the United Kingdom sometime during February 2023.
View the video where our collaborators and the youth involved detail their involvement in the Athens hackathon, emphasizing artificial intelligence’s relevance in promoting a better world.
Microsoft Hellas is the driving force behind this program, conducted with DAEM – the City of Athens IT Company, Athens Partnership, and “Athena” Research Center. It also enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.
Come and experience the power of artificial intelligence to positively impact society with young people at the forefront of this new technological era. Join us for the Stronger Together Policy Dialogue on Tuesday, 7 March 2023, from 9.00 – 10.30 UK time via live stream from Broadway House in London to Serafio City in Athens.
We offer a platform of exchange between young leaders and policymakers, businesses, research establishments, and innovation partners to discuss concerns related to artificial intelligence for all benefits. Register today for this excellent opportunity for those who wish to participate!
The “Stronger Together” event demonstrated the immense potential of AI to create positive social and economic impact and the importance of working together to ensure that this potential is realized in a way that benefits all members of society. We look forward to seeing more initiatives like this and continuing the important conversation around AI for the common good.
