Report: India Has 45K Job Openings In Artificial Intelligence (AI)

India is witnessing a surge in demand for professionals with Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise. Data scientists and Machine Learning (ML) engineers are the most sought-after roles, as proven by 45,000 job openings for AI-related positions nationwide. A report on Monday highlighted this.

The TeamLease Digital report, a comprehensive analysis of AI’s potential in specific industries, revealed an upsurge in demand for job prospects and experienced professionals specializing in AI. The extracted data from the research focused on major job roles and applications of AI in those sectors.

AI professionals with scripting language proficiency and the ability to construct traditional ML models see a heightened demand as AI applications that can be scaled become more prevalent. This emphasizes the need for these ML-related skills as a priority for those pursuing a career in AI.

AI has a wide range of key job roles across various industries. In the healthcare sector, job titles such as clinical data analyst, medical imaging specialist, and health informatics analyst are just some examples. Education also benefits from AI, with positions such as edtech product manager and AI learning architect being created in this field.

Data Science is a rapidly growing field, with several roles available in numerous industries. In Artificial Intelligence, developers such as AI curriculum designers and chatbot creators are sought after. The Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance sectors demand professionals like fraud analysts, credit risk specialists, and compliance personnel. Manufacturing organizations require experts in fields.

Candidates with a data engineering/machine learning background can earn as much as Rs 14 lakh annually. For those with eight years of experience in the field, salaries could increase to Rs 25-45 lakh annually. Meanwhile, data architects’ gains can reach up to 12 lacks per year.

Around half of the businesses stated that making AI learning initiatives compulsory is essential for uncovering workforce capabilities. In contrast, the remaining declared initiatives are being taken to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of AI talent.
