AI has become a much-discussed topic, with ChatGPT and Jasper being proposed as replacements for human writers. These programs are based on large collections of text data, allowing them to answer questions, condense long writing pieces, compose stories, and more. It is frequently used in conversation AI systems to imitate human interaction when customers contact online Customer Service; chances are you’ve already been talking to an AI without knowing it.
The verdict is still out as to whether ChatGPT, the most recent AI language model, can truly be considered “intelligent” in the way that we understand a machine’s capacity for human-like behavior. It remains just a computer program designed to react to textual inputs and form answers based on the data it has been trained with.
So far, AI has been used for questionable activities, such as creating malware, Phishing and scamming, and helping students cheat in school by submitting papers written by computers. According to a consultancy firm, ChatGPT applications surpassed 80 percent of human efforts. In theory, the technology can even be utilized for writing books.
Could a book created by AI be an interesting story or merely composed of characters and plots from other published works? If AI does not have intelligence, could it take the data available to it and craft something unique and imaginative in the same manner as a human author?
My research has revealed that AI software can create a list of book plot ideas, give opening paragraphs and provide a group of character sketches. If an author gave the program a thorough outline for their story, it could potentially produce an initial draft of a novel.
I read an article created by the Jasper AI application, and it was full of typos and grammatical errors – seven, to be exact. It was apparent that the author had not taken any time to proofread or fact-check the content before publishing it, which is a shame considering AI language models are best suited for generating non-fiction web content or product copy.
Authors will likely not be out of work soon, even with the advent of AI language models. It is unlikely that an AI model could generate a bestselling novel containing a dragon, wizard, and magical dimension with the same depth of imagination and creativity as a human author.
AI models are limited to replicating what has already been done instead of creating new and innovative ideas. I think AI language models are just one tool writers can use to expedite the writing process.
Admitting that I use a copy-editing software program for practical reasons in my revision process, it assists me in identifying awkward sentences, grammar mistakes, and typos. However, the final result requires human intervention to give the story its charm.
At present, I’m in the process of penning the third installment of my Beyond the Magic trilogy, REBEL SPELL. Although AI could help me during this venture, I have decided to continue without its assistance as writing is one of my greatest passions and something I am hesitant to give up.
AI in creative programming is a promising and exciting field that will continue to evolve and develop. As we continue to explore the potential of AI and push the boundaries of what is possible, it will be important to approach this technology with care and thoughtfulness to ensure that it is used in a way that benefits everyone.
