Enjoy ChatGPT And AI Summarization Features With Opera Browser

Following Microsoft’s launch of a GPT-4 powered chatbot into its Edge browser, Opera is now providing early access to generative AI chatbots enabled by ChatGPT and ChatSonic in its desktop browsers Opera and Opera GX across all platforms.

Opera is introducing a new development that allows people to generate AI prompts by either highlighting text on a webpage or simply typing it out. These chatbots can provide a summary of articles, compose social media posts, and assist with the ideation process via prompts.

Settings allow users to manually switch on “AI prompts” to use this feature. The Chinese consortium-owned company is integrating ChatGPT and ChatSonic, which can be found in the browser’s sidebar.

ChatGPT isn’t the only AI-powered tool that allows users to convert text into visuals, according to Opera. They also created ChatSonic, a bot leveraging GPT-4 to generate images from a given text input.

Joanna Czajka, Opera’s product director, oversees all aspects of the organization’s product.

Joanna Czajka says:

“AI generated content is a game-changer for web browsing. Our goal is to use these technologies to give our users new browsing superpowers – reimagining how they learn, create, and research. Opera is actively expanding its AI program into AIGC for browser, news, and gaming products through its own solutions and new and existing partnerships.”

The company stated that, in the future, they would introduce more AI-driven features based on their GPT-based model.

Recently, with the popularity of AI-generated content, Brave has launched a search offering with summarization features and is already looking into further customizing its browser through AI-focused features.

The AI summarization feature provides users with concise summaries of web pages, saving time and improving productivity. Overall, these new features represent Opera’s commitment to innovation and improving the browsing experience for its users.

It will be interesting to see how other browsers respond to this new development and whether they will incorporate AI technology into their platforms.
