Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, has declared that a famous chatbot has a left-wing inclination which he plans to neutralize with his own Artificial Intelligence invention.
During an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Mr. Musk revealed his plans to develop a new application called “TruthGPT” as an alternative to ChatGPT.
Mr. Musk says:
“Maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe”.
He stated that the concept is that an AI which desires to comprehend humanity has a better possibility of not wiping it out. The creator of Tesla and SpaceX said that he was concerned ChatGPT “is being taught to be politically correct.”
At the start of his dialog with Mr. Carlson, Mr. Musk shared his enthusiasm for regulating AI as he declared himself a “big fan.” He emphasized that AI is more hazardous than automobiles or rockets and can hold the power to ruin humanity.
As indicated by a Nevada business filing, Mr. Musk has founded a new firm, X.AI Corp. According to the Nevada Secretary of State’s office website, this company was established on March 9. Mr. Musk is listed as its director, while his advisor Jared Birchall is noted as secretary.
For many years, Mr. Musk has voiced his full views on artificial intelligence and criticized other tech giants, such as Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates, for possessing what he considers to be a “narrow” comprehension of the subject.
When OpenAI was established as a non-profit AI research lab in 2015, Mr. Musk invested in it and became a board co-chair. However, he left his post within two years, with OpenAI citing Tesla’s development of autonomous driving systems as the reason for his departure.
OpenAI noted in a February 2018 blog post that as Tesla moves further into AI, this will preempt any possible future disagreements for Elon.
Mr. Musk went on to say:
“I came up with the name and the concept,”
Mr. Musk informed Mr. Carlson sadly that OpenAI has become a part of Microsoft and no longer operates as an independent non-profit.
In 2019, Mr. Musk spoke further on the reasons behind his leaving, which he attributed to wanting to concentrate on engineering issues at Tesla and some disagreements with OpenAI’s administrators.
Mr. Musk continues to say:
“Just better to part ways on good terms”
“Tesla was competing for some of same people as OpenAI & I didn’t agree with some of what OpenAI team wanted to do,”
Questions have arisen concerning the reliability of Tesla’s AI technology. In March, US safety regulators announced an inquiry into a deadly accident in California involving a Tesla that was believed to be operating with automated driving when it struck a stationary fire truck.
The agency is looking into various cases of Teslas with Autopilot engaged in ramming into stationary emergency vehicles that had been sent to attend to other accidents. The fire engine incident is part of this broader investigation.
One year after Mr. Musk departed from the board, OpenAI had yet to start work on ChatGPT; however, it made public the first version of its GPT system, which serves as a base for ChatGPT. At the same time, OpenAI initiated a major change in its structure and became a for-profit enterprise.
In 2020, Mr. Musk tweeted that OpenAI should be more accessible, acknowledging he had little influence and only a minimal understanding of the organization.
The success or failure of Musk’s AI creation will depend on how it is developed, implemented, and regulated. It is up to all of us to ensure that any new technology is used responsibly, ethically, and ethically for the betterment of humanity.
