In an interview on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” he cautioned people to be wary of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He recommended that the government should regulate it, as it poses a threat to society.
Elon Musk says:
“I think we’ll have a better chance of advanced AI being beneficial to humanity in that circumstance,”
In the Fox News report from the interview, Musk stated that Artificial Intelligence could potentially have a destructive effect on humanity, even if the risk is very small. He claimed it is more dangerous than mismanaged aircraft design, production maintenance, or car production.
The billionaire has often expressed his worries over the dangers of advanced AI. He has likened it to nuclear warheads, revealed to Tesla investors that the technology is a source of stress for him, and even criticized OpenAI, which he was part of creating.
Musk is currently in the process of creating his own AI venture, known as X.AI. To staff this project, he has been recruiting engineers from high-profile research institutes such as Alphabet’s DeepMind, according to the Financial Times.
