Recently, Petey – an AI assistant providing a mobile app for Apple Watch users – has expanded its feature set to iPhones. This made it easier and quicker for users to access the features; apart from this, they can also replace Siri with Petey using Apple’s Shortcuts.
Petey is introducing a new trick with its latest update — connecting to Apple Music. Now, you can use the app to make playlists or add individual tracks from Apple Music to your Library.
The latest AI model, GPT-4, can now be accessed through a paid “Petey Premium” subscription alongside several other new updates. With this feature, users can access their unrivaled AI technology at their fingertips.
Apple Music recently added a feature by Petey highlighting its potential to use AI to deliver recommendations within its app. This implies that Apple if desired, could take advantage of artificial intelligence to offer suggestions to its users.
It is uncertain whether iOS 17, supposedly a less significant software update than the previous versions, will maintain this pattern. Reports suggest otherwise.
Using Petey, you can search for the playlist of your choice. For example, type in “90s grunge” and get musicians such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden as your results.
The returned playlist features songs recommended for you and short previews of each song. You can scroll through and sample the songs to understand better what they offer.
The three-dot “more” menu next to the song can be tapped on if you are a fan. It allows you to listen in full with Apple Music or save it in your Library.
Tap to “learn more” and get a deeper insight into the song you’re listening to with Petey, a liner notes app from developer Hidde van der Ploeg. NowPlaying provides various facts and details about songs, records, and artists.
In 2021, the well-received NowPlaying app was launched by the product designer-turned-indie app maker. November marked its evolution to 2.0, with which it has been transformed into a helpful companion of Petey featuring a noteworthy new feature.
With Petey, you can create your playlist by clicking the “Create Playlist” button. This will allow you to give it any name and open it in Apple Music’s app to begin listening. Furthermore, it also offers the opportunity to save individual songs in your Apple Music Library.
Of course, as Apple Music does not have a free tier, users must have a Basic or Premium subscription to take advantage of these features, such as Petey on iOS, which requires an OpenAI API key.
Aside from the Apple Music integrations and GPT-4 support, other updates arriving today include additional payment options for a Petey Basic subscription, alternative app icons, and the possibility to send messages to your phone via Apple Watch, even without a Basic subscription or personal API key.
Since its launch on Apple Watch-only on March 8, Petey (a free download from the App Store) has gained a following resulting in 24.7,000 total installs. The app’s iPhone version was released only recently, on April 6, and required a subscription to use its features.
