Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Twitter, recently shared his plans to create his own AI “bot” during an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News Monday night. He expressed that he believes ChatGPT and other similar programs are too liberal.
He declared that his new AI “bot” would be called TruthGPT, which he described as a “maximum truth-seeking AI that attempts to comprehend the essence of the universe.” Furthermore, he mentioned that this creation would try to gain insight into humanity to avoid potential destruction.
Musk informed Carlson of his worries that AI creations are being taught to speak in a politically correct manner. He voiced his desire to introduce restrictions on artificial intelligence, believing them to be more difficult than cars or rockets. He explained how these computer systems, which simulate conversations with people, can harm them.
Monday’s Fox News discussion was the initial of two installments. Musk has some background in investing in AI, as he invested in OpenAI in 2015 and created ChatGPT. Nevertheless, his association with the company was terminated in 2018 due to a conflict of interest with Tesla’s automated driving systems. OpenAI mentioned that this was why Musk had quit at the time.
At Monday’s discussion, Musk revealed that he had invented the name OpenAI. He noted that when he first created it, it was a non-profit organization and is now run as a profitable business. Additionally, he expressed displeasure with how closely linked OpenAI has become to Bill Gates’ Microsoft.
Musk has previously declared that Gates and Zuckerberg lack an adequate comprehension of artificial intelligence. In 2019 on Twitter, he gave the grounds for his exit from OpenAI due to Tesla’s intent to employ some of the same people for its automated driving projects. To maintain amicable relations, Musk felt it best to resign from OpenAI.
Musk has had a complex relationship with AI, expressing positive and negative sentiments. He recently pointed out what he believes is a left-wing bias in some chatbots. These programs are programmed to use information from the web to respond to queries, and the developers claim they have filters in place to keep them from providing inappropriate answers.
In March, the Associated Press reported that Musk and a business associate had submitted documentation to form X.AI Corp in Nevada, a western US state.
