After graduating from high school a decade ago, writing became a passion of mine. I joined a writing platform on WhatsApp and have been an active member for the last ten years. Casual writing was my primary focus for almost nine years until May 2022, when I began a job as a professional copywriter.
A lifelong dream finally came true for me: earning a role in which I was responsible for writing and proofreading articles and attending functions to obtain material about content pieces.
At first, the company appealed to me because of its willingness to help less experienced writers develop. Despite my reservations, I could not deny this opportunity’s growth potential.
My supervisor eventually showed me ChatGPT, which allowed me to produce more articles. Originally, I was only responsible for typing one daily, but with the help of ChatGPT, that number quickly rose to two or three.
Write an in-depth, comprehensive piece covering How To Grow in The Christian Faith. Ensure that the article does not run shorter than 1000 words and include growth, Christian faith, and a call for reader engagement (likes, comments, and shares) in the concluding paragraphs.
I experimented with ChatGPT a couple of times and found it to be a great tool. However, if I had used it all the time, I wouldn’t have had the chance to test my creativity. Thus, while useful, AI tools cannot completely substitute human ingenuity as they rely on prompts.
Using AI correctly can result in somebody taking another’s job. However, I believe AI cannot do so, but someone who knows how to use it efficiently.
My supervisor wanted me to utilize AI to expedite my work. Yet, I was hesitant to do so entirely because I wanted the opportunity to learn without depending fully on the application.
I had a great experience writing with the company. Still, in mid-February, I sadly had to resign due to my dedication to getting better pay and more flexibility with my role. Despite expressing my worries, unfortunately, I never heard back, leaving me devastated as I truly love writing.
A week after tendering my resignation, I reached out to an ex-colleague. My goal was to get connected to various individuals from other organizations. He reassured me that I should not restrict myself to copywriting and, instead, pursue my tremendous potential.
He suggested that my role was in danger due to ChatGPT before I submitted my resignation. I am unaware of how accurate this was.
After I had been introduced to ChatGPT, a senior team member phoned to inquire about the relevance of my articles. It seemed like they were suggesting that, due to ChatGPT, my position was becoming less important – so I could be made redundant.
Although I am thankful for the experience and maturation I have gained from my ChatGPT job, I feel my contribution has been limited. Nevertheless, my aspirations in the future involve writing, and these plans remain even though ChatGPT is a looming presence within this industry.
AI tools like ChatGPT can be incredibly helpful in automating certain tasks and processes; it is important to remember that they are not a replacement for human workers. By using these tools in conjunction with human workers, businesses can create a more efficient and productive workplace that leverages AI’s and human workers’ strengths. By working together, we can create a more successful and sustainable future for the workplace.
