xperience the Australian Spirit at AIS Open Day- Saigoneer

Australia is a land of diverse cultures, stunning landscapes, and a unique spirit that is truly captivating. A showcase of Australia’s best is displayed at the Australian International School (AIS) Open Day in Saigon.

From the vibrant energy of the country’s famous cities to the rugged beauty of its outback, visitors to the AIS Open Day will be transported to the heart of the Australian experience. This event celebrates Australian culture, education, and community and offers an opportunity to experience the warmth and hospitality that is a hallmark of the Australian way of life.

Angus Malcolm, a Year 12 Australian International School (AIS) student, explains the school.

Angus Malcolm says:

“The best way to see the Australian Spirit is to just witness it as you walk around the school, it shows the kindness and compassion of our students and teachers and our willingness to help each other.”

No precise definition exists for the Australian spirit. Still, it is embodied by values such as a welcoming attitude towards new people and experiences, striving to do one’s best, and viewing the world with genuine admiration and interest.

AIS’s educational philosophy is underpinned by these principles and the type of individuals it works to cultivate in its graduates.

Visiting the school’s Open Day on March 18th is an excellent opportunity to experience the Australian spirit firsthand, as you will have the chance to encounter current students, teachers, members of the management team, and other families considering enrollment.

Angus, one of the student representatives in charge of guiding tours during Open Day, spoke to Saigoneer about the student-run excursions.

Angus Malcolm continues to say:

“Provide a more personal touch because we can use our experience at the school to tailor the tour to the needs of the student. We can describe behind-the-scenes details of being a student at AIS including where they might spend their time, or the array of different sports, music or activity opportunities available at the school.”

He will give tours to potential students’ families, showing them the outdoor football field and indoor gymnasium while informing them about various after-school activities such as basketball, swimming, cricket, and tennis. Additionally, he will explain the non-athletic programs available at the school, such as Model United Nations, theatre, band, and environmental organizations.

Visitors of the tour will have a chance to explore the modern library with sections specifically for students studying for the International Baccalaureate program. This curriculum promotes self-directed exploration in subjects that spark interest. AIS Boarding House is beside this library, which was also recently built.

At this international school in Saigon, students benefit from a top-notch education while being closely monitored by the staff. This is the first time such an opportunity has been offered at any school in the city.

The school is demonstrating its dedication to bettering its education system by introducing new ideas and developments, showing that they are constantly trying to stay up-to-date with the most modern trends in teaching.

Angus Malcolm went on to say:

“The Australian Spirit is one that fosters a family-like community and cooperative atmosphere at the school. Teachers and students get along really well and that results in an extremely inviting, wholesome atmosphere.”

Attendees of Open Day will have the chance to speak with teachers from all subjects and grade levels to gain insight into their educational programs, teaching styles, and personalities.

Attending an Open Day benefits students as it allows them to become familiar with the other people who make up the school community, ensuring that respectful, encouraging, and caring individuals surround them during their time away from home.

The event will be attended by the school’s senior leadership team, who will be available to answer any queries concerning admissions, fees, and school policies. This reflects the ethos of the school that its leaders set.

Jon Standen, the newly-appointed Executive Principal of AIS, is set to begin his tenure in August for the upcoming academic year. Those involved are eager to learn more about him and his plans for the school.

He brings an impressive record of accomplishment from England, where he was acknowledged as a National Leader of Education. His presence will add to the school’s already diverse set of innovative concepts that prepare students to work and make a difference globally while fostering enthusiasm for artistic and athletic pursuits and other extracurricular activities.

The primary purpose of the day is to inform students about what they can accomplish at AIS and how to apply, including ways to be eligible for the yearly scholarships that are given out in recognition of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. Additionally, there will be conversations about preparing for university outside AIS and potential career paths that may await graduates.t many of its alums will be a key part of our conversations.

Selecting a school is a big decision as it sets young adults on a trajectory that will impact them for the rest of their lives. Families and interested students, therefore, should look for all occasions that allow them to make an informed decision. The presence of the Australian Spirit at AIS’s Open Day next month will help provide a glimpse into bright futures.

The Australian International School Open Day in Saigon was a vibrant showcase of Australia’s best. From the stunning landscapes to the warm and welcoming hospitality of the people, visitors were treated to a true taste of the Australian spirit.

Whether sampling delicious Aussie cuisine, exploring the country’s unique wildlife, or experiencing the world-class education opportunities available at AIS, the Open Day offered something for everyone.
